Established out of community-driven efforts in the early 1990’s, this organization emerged from the vision of Mayor Alfred Saliba and local leaders committed to addressing critical issues like child abuse, teen pregnancy, high school dropout rates, and illiteracy. Built in the historic 1921 schoolhouse with support from the city and school district, the Center now offers a comprehensive suite of support programs that uplift families and help them thrive. About Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Launched in 1995 by legendary artist Dolly Parton, the Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting free, high-quality books to children from birth until age five.
With millions of books mailed worldwide, the Imagination Library is opening doors to learning, imagination, and lifelong success one book at a time. By supporting literacy at home, this program helps prepare children for school and fosters stronger family connections through shared reading.Why This Partnership Matters

More About Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
- The Imagination Library is a book-gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, regardless of family income.
- Founded in 1995 in Sevier County, Tennessee (where Dolly grew up), it expanded quickly – by 2000, the replication effort began nationally.
- Milestones include:
• In 2000, national replication effort started.
• By 2003, over one million books had been mailed.
• In 2020, the program was gifting 1 million books per month globally.
• In 2024, it celebrated 30 years of service. - Recognitions & awards include:
